Vote for September

Posted by lanktank on October 16, 2009

OK, so we’re a little late getting these polls up but work, exams, drinking heavily… it’s all taking its toll.

However, they are now there! Click on the Take Your Pick tab and cast your vote!

For the guys, it’s between that famous chick from the UK who I’ve never actually seen in anything, that famous chick from Baywatch, that famous chick from her dad or that famous chick dating Lewis Hamilton.

For the girls, it’s only two this month I’m afraid… but this means your vote will be easy because you’re not spoiled for choice? Right? Maybe? Anyway, it’s between the hot Vampire guy from True Blood… come on, Vampire phenomenon people… or, that really good looking guy that plays rugby… tight shorts and all!

You decide!

Got vote!

Guy I wouldn’t kick out of bed – Daniel Carter

Posted by lanktank on September 18, 2009

A Luwie pick

So sticking with the sports theme and this month I have opted for Daniel Carter… A New Zealand legend in the making. Voted the sexiest male in NZ in 2004 and 2005, he has also been named E! Entertainment’s 11th sexiest male celebrity. Some may worry that I have opted for someone who handles balls so well and has had the odd run-in with hookers but there’s no doubting it, none of us would turn down being Deeeeenyil Caaaaaaartaaaa for a day.

Guy I wouldn’t kick out of bed – Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira

Posted by lanktank on August 7, 2009

Is it because of the cool rep he has now – when gets the ball or makes a tackle, we all scream; “Beeeeast” and that’s pretty awesome – that makes him way hotter now?

I mean, he is very cute, good rugby player, nice guy, bla bla but the hot factor? It has definitely increased.

Have you seen him with his shirt off too? The man is ripped… he’s a big guy, but there is not an ounce of fat on him. So I think that’s a factor for us ladies too – strong guy, your protector from evil etc.

Hot – That’s for sure.

BeastAwesome picture in the rain…pity about the Sharks jersey, I know.

What’s the crew getting up to for Valentine’s Day: Part 2

Posted by lanktank on February 11, 2009

This time it’s Kappie and GND, what are they planning this February the 14th…

Kappie:

Bullsh*t for my Valentine

Valentine’s Day is this Saturday and I think we all know what that means. Of course, single ladies looking to party and Jimbo and I have the perfect plan.

You may or may not have heard of a type of party known as the ‘traffic party’. Jimbo calls it the ‘traffic party’ because he says his bedroom will be like a main intersection but with girls instead of cars. For now I’ll just stick to the real meaning: Three colours may only be worn to this party. Red if you’re in a relationship, yellow or orange for it’s a Facebook “complicated” and green for single to mingle…just like C-Dawg for the rest of his single little life.

A popular club in Kenilworth has a ‘traffic party’ every year and Jimbo and I have finally decided to test the waters with a devilish plan, if I do say so myself. We are going to wear ALL three colours in case different scenarios arise. I’ll be using the green shirt primarily to get myself out there and then cleverly change to red if I get a level three cling-on who doesn’t understand I’m not her ‘pookie’. Oh and the yellow one is my particular favourite. The yellow will be used on those tough nuts to crack and will allow me to play the sensitive guy. I imagine something along these lines will surely take place:

Kappie: (acting sad, emotionally strained and puppy eyed)

Girl #43: “Why so down?”

Kappie: “Just leave me alone.”

Girl #43: (intrigued by my abruptness) “What’s the matter?”

Kappie: “You won’t understand.”

Girl #43: “Try me.”

Kappie: “Well…it’s this girl I’m kind of seeing…I just don’t think she appreciates my feelings etc. etc. etc. blah, blah, blah”

She’ll follow by saying that she thinks I deserve someone who does appreciate me, while I ‘tear’ myself apart saying that I don’t think I do; all the more pulling her ever closer to this emotional trap.

Jimbo says it’s a full proof plan and I tend to agree with that, I mean what’s the worst that could happen?

And Girl Next Door?

GND will be joining the Black Hearts Club this Valentine’s Day. And not in a weird sadistic way, just play-play. Silly games. In fact I’ll have my hot, witty, well-built, intelligent boyfriend with an 8-pack waiting for me at home when I get back, obviously, but that’s beside the point. I choose to be with friends on this day. Friends who aren’t as lucky to have a love like I do.

Back to the point – we’ll be attending the Stormers game at Newlands this Saturday. And by we I mean my single friends. That constitutes approximately 6 of us. The rest of the crew have teamed up with their worse/better half and are going out for dinner / going away for the weekend / eating chocolate dessert off each other and the list goes on. Icky. I think I just got sick a little bit in my mouth.

It should be an interesting day, seeing as the last time I watched a bunch of big sweaty men run after a weirdly shaped ball was… well lets be honest… never. I’m not sure if you can tell but I don’t think I’m what you’d call a huge rugby fanatic.

Favourite Things of 2008 #102

Posted by lanktank on December 3, 2008

OK, and I’m back…hhmmm, now what other coolio things happened this year?

Oh! And before I forget, this isn’t in chronological order… The Steers Good Guy is not the number 1 favourite thing of 2008, it’s just what I started with. I apologise to anyone who was offended by this (Thrash) although I doubt anybody else was.

So…. moving along, coming in at number 3 (but NOT 3rd best) is…

3. Francois Steyn got HOT!

francois steyn

Did anyone else notice? Seriously, this dude has some serious sex appeal oozing from him of late. Besides his mad skills on the rugby field, his hotness has increased rather considerably. I mean, last year in the Rugby World Cup; his technique was memorable, his face… not so much. Now, in 2008, I couldn’t give a carrot if he tripped over his own shoelaces during a game, just don’t hurt the face!

Yum! Seriously, yum! I mean, he’s not completely without fault… Read the rest of this entry »

Springboks Sker

Posted by lanktank on November 24, 2008

So first things first, I trust everyone watched the 42-6 obliteration that was the South Africa vs. England rugby game on Saturday; Victory and gloating at its finest.

Fourie’s try – sick

The Bakkies Botha/Pieterson tackle – even sicker

Schalk Burger just being Schalk Burger – the sickest

I could go on and on about how coolio the game was, how coolio our team is/ how coolio we, the public, are but what I really wanted to write about was this:

Just after Habana scored his try at the end of the game, did anyone else see the boks… do “the scissors?” And do you think this has any relation to the Afrikaans, teen classic movie, Bakgat? OK, I might be using the term “classic” a little loosely here but I’ve seen the movie and what Habana and Burger, among others, were doing to celebrate, was the “sker” from Bakgat.

For those of you who haven’t seen the movie (and I’m not even joking, I recommend you give it a watch) the two standard geeky/horny/socially inept characters have this joke between each other that whenever something cool happens they “sker” each other in order to acknowledge it. It’s by far the funniest thing in the movie, along with some other pearler one liners.

So, my question still stands: Did the Springboks watch Bakgat and if so, when? Was it one of the movie selections on the plane going over to the UK? Did they all go to Peter De Villiers’ hotel room one evening and watch it as a team building exercise? Was there popcorn and Milo involved? And whose idea was it? Were there other DVD’s they decided to watch and if so which ones? Was Braveheart one of them? Diehard 4.0? Maybe a RomCom, like Knocked Up, you know, to lighten the mood?

Whatever the case, whoever the instigator and even if it had nothing to do with the movie whatsoever, seeing them “sker-ring” at the end of the match… was “fokken genius pappa!”*

*This is another Bakgat reference and will only be amusing to the minority who have actually seen it… apologies to everyone else.
